Garrett County Memorial Hospital will offer a "Safe Sitter" childcare course for 12- to 14-year-olds from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, Jan. 19-20. Admission is on a first-come, first-served basis, and for more information or to register, persons may call 301-533-4295.

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life kick-off Hawaiian luau and beach party is set for Tuesday, Jan. 18, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Continuing Education and Training Building of Garrett College. The snow date is Tuesday, Jan. 25, at the same time and same location.

An informational seminar on the services offered by Hospice of Garrett County will be presented at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 14, at the Garrett County Lighthouse. For further information, persons may call 301-533-0998.

The Salisbury Volunteer Fire Dept. & Ambulance will hold an "all-you-can-eat" roast beef dinner on Sunday, Jan. 23 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the fire hall along Ord Street in Salisbury, Pa. The dinner will consist of roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, noodles, vegetables, cole slaw, choice of beverage, and dessert. Takeouts will be available. The cost is $7 for adults, $3 for children under 12, and free for children under 5.
